  Widths of 852 GOV.UK guide titles measured in one font and browser, compared within exact codepoint counts. At 60 codepoints, the 12 titles ranged from 581 to 642 CSS pixels.

• Average Characters per Word: An English Text Study

  250 English samples of 500 words across five text types. The mean was 6.33 characters per word including spaces, from 5.53 for classic fiction to 6.76 for technical writing.
